Default 2006 Silverado w/ 6x9's in the front doors

I have a set of 6x9's and looking at the amount of room under the speaker grilles, a 6x9 looks like it would actually fit in there.

Has anyone tried this?

I did that on a 2003 Sierra, it's doable but really was not worth the time that it took.

Sorry, I sure don't. I do remember having to trim the edges of the doorpanel just under the factory grill opening to get the door panel back in place. It all ended up looking factory and sounding good, it was a buddy of mines truck so it was mostly an experiment to see if it could be done.

Once I got took the door panel off, I bought new 6-1/2"s Too much modification for the small gain in sound quality.

Thanks for the info anyways.
