Default 1999 silverado head unit question

My stock radio is starting to go out. The radio works just fine but it keeps spitting out the CD's. I have to keep putting the CD in for it to work but after a day or 2 it spits it out and the process starts over.

Is there an aftermarket head unit that will fill in the whole area without any gaps? I don't like the way these small aftermarket radios look with I'm guessing black spacers to fill in the gap. It looks crappy and I'm considering going back to the dealership to get a new stock unit or getting mine repaired. Any ideas? I was planning on going to Best Buy to have this put in. Do they do good work?

if ya dont want to spend a whole lot, get a cheap headunit from crutchfield, i think they still give the dash kit, antennae adaptor, and somethin else for free, and then they knock off like 40% for the harness and its easy as hell to install

I've never seen a quality installation from Best Buy, but I have seen many hack jobs.

Check out Crutchfied's website, there are two manufacturers that used to make din and a half head units, I believe Pioneer made one, not sure if they still do. The Pioneer one looked pretty cool when I was checking it out a few years ago...(at least I think it was Pioneer lol)

Theres a couple of ways you could go,Look at what it would cost to fix your stock unit,or You could most likely find one for sale here or on Craigs list or e-bay?Last buy a new after market unit.

Search for 1.5 DIN head units. I have an old Alpine in the truck which is discontinued. To the best of my knowledge, Pioneer and Jensen are the only ones that still make 1.5 DIN units. In my Tahoe, I went with a JVC unit that has a little larger face than most single din units and it dosn't look too bad.
