I am in the processes of trying to wire up a monetary switch to be used as a kill switch on my 2008 Silverado. I am currently using a relay off of the #48 AUX HVAC ING (10A) fuse in the under hood compartment. The problem I am running into is that it shuts off when the engine cranks. Now I could run two switches one for on and one for off but I was hoping to simplify it so that when the truck is shut off the kill switch is automatically activated. Anyone have any suggestions of a ING circuit that retains power during cranking or a circuit that can be used to activate it once the truck is shut off.
If you want 12V only when the engine is running, you will need to add an oil pressure switch (such as on an '81 Camaro).
If you want 12V when the key is set to IGN, you could use the spare / open slot in the under hood fuse panel between fuses 5 and 14 in the powertrain. See page B1: https://www.gmupfitter.com/wp-conten...abs_100813.pdf
If you want 12V after the engine has run and is no longer running... I suppose you could use the normally open circuit of a switching relay that you wire to be closed from one of the above choices.
Could you use an SPDT relay, and when truck is off, relay will switch to one output (at rest), Key on (energized) the truck switches to the other output?
Hell yeah! where did you buy that box? that thing is rad and I have some schemes for it
I don't remember if Waytek https://www.waytekwire.com/ had the GEP PDM's, but they did have all the Littelfuse PDM's which are very comparable. They are both based on Aptiv (Delphi) metri pack 280 components. They are great for custom fuse/relay panels.
This doesn't seem like it would work the way you are hoping.
If I get this right, why didn't you just pull the hot pin out from underneath the fuse panel (so its hidden), from the crank, ignition, or fuel, and wire a kill switch in-line, and just mount or hide whatever switch, wherever you want it.
It defiantly works the way I wanted it to. The wires are hidden. The crank/run source is used to power on an Aux relay which controls powers to multiple items. Its not just a simple switch so that the remote start can still operate.
