Default 04 Silverado removing viper alarm/wiring

Hello,

Got this truck on auction and have gotten around to working on it. There was only one key for it, no factory or aftermarket fob.

Pulling all the speaker wires, I came across this viper alarm wired in. My question is, can I just cut this out and use the factory alarm/fob to lock/unlock the doors?

Also, what do I need to do about those wire splices?

Justin

Yes, You can.

You will have to pull the cover under the steering column and splice the wires back together where it's tied in.

I believe its a Yellow wire around 10 gauge that they splice into.

I have removed several of them.

If it's a remote start, then they would have cut the yellow wire in half, and that would need to be redone. It is 10ga and you can buy yellow 10ga at autozone by the way.

If it's just an alarm then you can remove those wires and just make sure it's safe and cover with electrical tape. Judging by the "ground wire" in your picture, they are hackjobs so be ready to find some issues when you dig in... Good luck

Thank you both for the heads up.

I'll pull that alarm and carpet and get more pictures if you're interested.
