Yeah, Dad Finally Found Out....

back in high school when i started saving up money here and there from odd jobs and birthdays i would buy something for my old blazer and sneak and put it on. there was a few times my dad would find something that i ordered and make me send it back. That was 10 years ago. Along the years he knows i am exactly like he was when he was younger. When i lived at home and had a job and was paying for school he would get mad but get over it quick. my mom would threat me by dropping me off the insurance if she ever found out i was racing. well as of today she still dont know i race but my dad loves to hear every time i go to the track. I aslo know when my mom is standing beside him. he asks questions like "so how long did it take to get to such and such place"
He called me the other nite and told me "i was just looking up old drag racing times and in 1964 season you would have won the nhra superstock class with your truck. Its amazing how things have changed huh." he still goes on ebay and looks for a 63 impala ss with a 409 just like he used to race. Now that he knows I can afford my truck and anything i do to it he really enjoys listening what i plan on doing next and what will that do. so hang in ther beau and try to chill out to keep the parents happy. I know its tough but its apart of growing up

I know i have been saying this for a year now but i would love to line up with you and prove you wrong. The long white bitch aint no slouch but as always, im searching for an issue.
Maybe over the summer or spring break we can line up.
I know i have to wait. Tax return is comming up and i have a 1350 yoke to buy as well as a purge kit, plugs, and progressive controller to buy. I just sold my cam, pushrods and one of my sets of heads tonight too.
Now that i have the funds, im gonna go ahead and keep hunting for the damn vibration. Its driving me nuts that im having to miss the track. I only was able to get in one pass this season and it was a shitass one at that. Im Jones'in my *** off to make a pass.

Did you replace your ujoints when you had the shaft made? Are the "caps" the right size? There's different cap sizes for different sized yokes. Are all of your weights still on there, could one have fallen off?

Spankin new ujoints. Spicer and professionally installed. I have come to the conclusion that its either the tranny or the diff. I just have to get some instrumentation on it to prove one or the other. I dont think its the tranny. Im gonna check angles again as well.

My mom at first was all pissed off when I swaped the v6 for a v8. Then when i started to mod it she got really scared and would say why do i want to go faster. The first time i went to the track she was all like their going to stop you for racing. I was like wtf? Then i guess she started to get over it and the second time i went to the track and lost(mostly stock truck) she started to laugh cause i had lost. Now i win most of my races and then i show her on the videos and she gets all happy that my truck is in front. Now my dad, he dosen't know anything about racing. The first time i got home with the racing #'s i had to explain what they were. He's only been on my truck once and said the muffler was to loud. When i got home with the cam installed he asked why my truck sound that way hehe. I just told him something was wrong with the truck. Now when he asks me about the truck, he just grins.

Actually you're lucky, Beau. When I was in college I was on the "deferred gratification" plan. My parents paid for my education, period. My transportation was a 1963 Chevy II with an iron duke 6 and powerglide tranny (0-60 in 16 sec.) at home, and my 2 legs and/or thumb at school. Summer jobs in the 1970's, if available at all, paid crap and my folks discouraged them saying "spend your time studying, getting good grades. Then when you get a good paying job you can have all the fast cars you want". So I studied, graduated with honors, and got a good paying job. By that time it was the early 80's and everything was 4 bangers that a cow could outrun and everyone was talking fuel economy.
Anyway, I think my folks had the right idea. It instilled in me a discipline of not wanting everything now, and running up huge debts. OK enough for rambling about the olden days. Just thought you might like to know what it was like in the Paleozoic Era.
