Yesterday, coming home from work I decided I'd grab myself something to eat from Jack in the Box. So im heading over there minding my own business just trying to get some food. As im heading that way, I see this truck behind me driving very recklessly and maybe even drunk. As im heading for the turn into the shopping center where JIB is, I'm watching in my mirror, looking back and forth to see what this fool is doing. Im getting ready to tap the brakes and slow down so I can go ahead and head on into the shopping center but I see this truck behind me just hauling *** and gaining speed very quickly until I can no longer see his headlights.

At that point I knew I was fucked and he was definitly going to hit me so me trying to be the smart one and avoid the wreck I just roll off into the shopping center with a sharp left going maybe 30-40mph. Well as soon as I thought I was gonna be clear, I hear my back tires loose traction and sqeal and then for some reason my who car locks up. Steering wheel locks up as well as the brakes, since they didn't seem to do anything as my car was drifting towards the curb and bushes.

Now, im just sitting there trying to turn the steering wheel but theres no way it's gonna budge and all I can do is just watch my car head off into the woods. So my car hops the curb and runs off into some trees and bushes, at first I thought my car would be fine and just have a few scratches and I could return home safely. So I back up and as im trying to turn the steering wheel left, it wont move. I get out, goto the front and see the who bumper mashed in, and stopping my tire for moving. My whole front end is fucked. At this point, im so pissed im cussing out loud ready to punch the first person to come near me in the face. So as im looking at it, it's gonna need a new front bumper, new hood and whole new set of headlights and probably a drivers side panel since its kinda fucked up.

Anybody wanna guess how much this is gonna cost ? This has just been a really bad week for me. School is pissin me off, my drop kit is taking forever to get here, probably lost in the mail and now my truck is fucked and probably wont be back for a couple weeks. Now, im just hopin my insurance will cover it but it'll probably skyrocket if they do.

Also, does anyone know why exactly my steering wheel would have locked up? It's never happend to me before and it seemed that if it would have not locked up, I would have made it safely. Is it possible that something could have malfunctioned? I don't see how locking up the steering wheel is gonna benefit me at all...

It just sucks to see my truck thats only about 3 months old already ruined...

 

Sorry to hear that. At least your telling us about it and not laying down on a hospital bed. Did you get a description on the other vehicle?

 

All I know is that it looked like a black f-150, new style. I'm just suprised at how much damage so little trees can do. No tellin what would have happend if I would have hit the light pole a few feet away.

 

Sharp left @ 30 - 40 mph... At least ~4500#s of weight moving at a sharp angle on the front wheels could force you an uncontrollable spin.

Was the truck running after the spinout or did you have to start it up?
also, when you hit the curb maybe that is what caused the front end damage.
The truck isnt going to steer if the wheel is ledged up against the front fender, I bet this happened so fast that you cant remember what it hit first.

The only other reason i could think that the truck would "lock up" would be from the tires breaking loose, When going that fast and taking a sharp left your truck is going to want to go left in backwards motion because all the vehicles weight has been shifted to the rear. This may have caused backspin on your drive wheel(s) which would then shut the engine down to prevent damage. When a vehicle is turned off it loses power steering as well as power brakes also if the engine died the anti theft wheel locking mechanism may have engaged which would prevent the wheels from turning if indeed the truck is off, But i allways thought that if the key was in the ignition and turned to run that this couldnt occur, so this may be ruled out as a possiblility.

Get us some pics to see the extent of the damage and we can possibly you a estimate of repair.

 

Lesson learned let the son of a bitch hit you. I avoided a side swipe one time and hit the crub screwed up my wheel. Now I just let them hit me so they have to pay not me
