I know what you mean. I went to a place to have some AFR heads installed on my wife's ford truck and the head mechanic told me that it wouldn't help because the truck had too many miles on it. So I offered to go buy a 347 stroker and bring it for him to install, he said that he had a chevy 327 that put out 600hp that would put my stroker to shame. He didn't seem to care that he just cost himself atleast 1200 by giving his opinion.

Oh yeah, the "chip" as in "damn your truck moves, you got a chip it that?"
Or "Why spend all your money on a truck?"
