They always pull this one on me...

Parts guy: "What's the part for?"
Myself: "Let's just say an '05 Silverado."
Parts guy: "2WD or 4WD?" (never matters)
Myself: "Just put 2WD."
Parts guy: "327?"

This happened at oreilly's.

I walk in tell the guy I needed a left cv shaft for a 02 s10 blazer he stares at me a second and does some stuff of his computer and looks at me and says 2wd or 4wd I just looked at him and said really!? I think ill just go to advance.

My Dad and grandma owned a parts store here in town for 40 years and of course I grew up in it helpin dad and what not. I've been around cars my whole life and know a little but(not near the knowledge my dad has but enough to get me by) when I go into advance they just have me look it up myself lmao or ask what book I need lol

When a new person starts they always let me **** with them a little haha then they finally just say he's knows more about this catalog system then all of us so just let him look it up

Ive been callin salvage yards and transmission shops looking for a 4l80e.
Everytime they ask me what year my truck is, I just say one from 99 up will work. (I know other years will also work.) Then they ask, "what's this going in?" I tell them an 02 half ton. They always tell me that it's not going to fit, I'm going to have to run another computer for it and modify everything under my truck. I tell them I know plenty of people who have done it and it's not that hard. If its a transmission shop they go on a spill about how the 4l60e is a good transmission and how they can build one that will handle anything I throw at it.
My favorite is always "why do you want to do that to a truck?" or "your going to run a 3600 stall!?"
My friends dad swears that a stall is going to make my truck slower..

Everyone keeps asking me why I am putting an 06 motor in a 94. "Why don't you just buy a new truck"

Tell them the price of a new motor is quite a bit less than a new truck

I heard this one today, actually. I've got a buddy who has an ECSB Z71, NBS. I saw him today and he was driving a dually, so I asked him where his truck was. He said, "Man, the transmission went out in it." I told him, to definitely do an 80E swap now because it was the perfect time. He said, "I went to (insert local shop here), and they said you can't put an 80E in there without re-wiring the whole truck. It won't fit either. They're just going to rebuild the stock transmission for $600." I saw that one coming from a mile away. I then went on my rant about how they were full of . He's still getting the 60E, of course.

You can always tell they are not knowledgeable with LS engines when they call it a 327, but sometimes depending on the parts store it is actually listed in the computer as a 327. Even some guys at the dealerships call it a 327, I guess it was a marketing gimmick and it stuck somewhere or another. It does bother me every time I hear someone call it a 327 though LOL.

I on the other hand just call it a 325ci.

I give them 2 reasons

1 - you buy it and I will consider driving it
2 - I can't drive an airbag equipped vehicle
