Default What a Christmas Weekend

Well, it all started off nice.

I asked my girl Saturday night to get married and she said yes.

Went to her folks house on Sunday and her mom was just getting over the flu. No big deal, still had a good time.

Now the fun begins.

Woke up Christmas morning with my girl, opened up gifts. Didn't get much for each other this year, we went kinda light. No biggie. She starts cooking, about 10 or 11 she says she needs a gallon of milk. Get in my GMC, and keep in mind that it hadn't been driven since Friday afternoon, and its dead. So dead that I can't even get the keyless entry to work or get it to jump off of the other truck. Call around, no one open to get new battery, this is after swapping batts out of the Z71 to mine and discovering that that is indeed the problem. No biggie just have to wait til morning, come into work a few minutes late.

So, my girl takes me to the autoparts store yesterday morning to get said battery, and then take me home so she can go to work.

Here's where the **** gets fucked up. We get to the corner of our house, its sided on 2 sides by streets, and I see tire tracks going thru our ditch, look up to see our less than 6 month old fence ******* mangled. Turn the corner and there is a wrecker truck sitting in front of the house with the driver walking up to the house. So we speed up there. He comes out and says that there was a wreck up the road, an overturned Toyota Tacoma, and he was towing it away, got to the point near our road, he claims that the chain broke, the truck came off the wrecker, thru the ditch, and slammed our fence. Ww have 2 horses and only saw one at the time, the other was hiding somewhere, Heather put both horses in the barn so they wouldn't get curious. Wrecker driver must have been hauling ***, cause we specifically built the fence about 35 feet off the main road, just in case, plus it rolled over 2, 3"-4" steel pipeline markers, ripping one completely out of the ground concrete and all.

He was very sorry, and actually bought all the replacement materials and him and his son along with me and my fiance put it all back together. It was the least he could do. I guess we were lucky, cause it would have been real easy for him to just drive off and we would have had to foot the bill to get it all fixed ourselves. I am all out of vacation and sick days so I missed a days worth of pay, but what can you do. We had to have that fence back up. We had to replace 3 posts, the corner one, had a shitload of concrete and it was very deep, pull away all the wire, and replace the top rail. Took us pretty much all ******* day. There was **** everywhere, the skidplate, side mirrors, cracked up pieces of headlight and taillight, the fuel door.

And now, to top it all off. I think I've got the ******* flu.

Heres some pics of the wreckage.

Yeah, we really do. We've got about 3/4 of an acre right around the house and then almost 2 acres of pasture. I've been wanting to do a BBQ for a bunch of friends, but man, we've still been so busy getting things done inside and outside the house, who has time. But hopefully will have one come the spring or so.

I can do better!

Came home from the in-laws Christmas Eve to my neighbors having a huge party...cars all down the street.

Woke up Christmas morning to the sound of my toilet girgling...got up... WTF???

Now it had been raining all night and the back yard was covered in water and I thought, That seems like a lot of water for just one night of rain? Went out front and was hit with the distinct odor of sewage...yup you guessed it!

I am low man on the cul-da-sac and everyones sh*t was in my front yard and a steady steam was flowing down my walkway over the driveway and around the side yard right into the back yard. I went out to the city sewer man hole and opened it up and the sewage was about a foot from overflowing out! I called the city and they came out and pumped it.

The good thing about it was that a few months ago I had Roto Rooter come out and unclog our drains (I do it once a year) and they have a tap on our cleanout valve that lets them get their auger in there. If that tap were not there...yup all that sewage would have been in my house!
