Default valve spring tried to kill me

Sunday i pulled the 4.8 out of the S-10 to put some Isky Valve springs in it so when i got the cam it wouldnt take but a minute to put it in..

Well i got all 8 Isky springs put on one side.. started on the other side and the air compressor messed up so i took it apart and tried to fix it.. Ended up not working right. 25psi was enough to keep the valve up.

Took the first spring off on that side and was loosening the tool up when all of a sudden it popped. i caught the valve spring or retainer about 1/4" from my left eye. instant blood and swelling
There are still tools scattered all over the shop, pissed me off more than it hurt. Put some ice on it and called it a day.

so when i get back from working in texas this week i got to find the rest of my tools and search the shop for the springs and whatever else went flying.

i now remember that when we did the springs in the silverado and the spring swap in the 6L Lighting, we wrapped a towel around the spring/tool while loading and unloading it.

i have a face shield now

I normally use a rag of some sort for this reason. I've had springs, retainer, etc fly across the room. Those little boogers can be deadly.
