Default V6 -v8 Swap

How much is involved swapping out a V6 to a V8?
My truck is an 06 SWB truck. It is not extended cab either.
I would like to go ahead with a 6.0L, but should i get it from a truck or a car?
Also, who here in Houston, Tx could do the swap and how long would the turn around be and how much?
Would a new PCM be involved? or Fuel Pump? What about the tranny and rear end?

Any advice and/or suggestions are welcomed!

This link has helped answer many of my questions. Thank you very much DLH2006!

I believe this link should be kept as a sticky so that many more can view it first without having to do a search.

Speaking of searches... i did that and this link did not appear.... what did appear were other ones that only discussed; and not into great detail; how others had already or were begining to swap their 6cyl for an 8cyl.

Although this link did not really relate the 6.0L; i am sure that pretty much everything would hold true for it as it relates to the 5.3L. In regards to the accessories and engine mounts, reflash of the pcm, but more than likely it would need an upgrade on the transmission and rear end?

Thanks again for the heads up....

I, as well as many, know it may seem like too much to search for, but there is a LOT of info regarding various types of swaps that you may get different info from. Just take the time, and search using key phrases like...

V6 to V8

If you'd like more details on something in particular, just ask. You WILL find the answer, and/or lots of opinions/suggestions on how to proceed. Not long til you'll be driving that project truck like .
