is it bad to get a torque converter on a stock trans will it pop. what size should i get i was thinking 2600 to 2800 maybe a 3000. whats yalls opinion.

 

Like everything else with these damn 4L60E's it will be hit or miss. You might as well get atleast a 3000 if you are going to do it, although I would suggest getting a 3200 because you know you are going to want to cam it if you stall it...

 

What you plan on doin with it? just a DD and "Race"?

Just have to make sure you install it right or... well ya know.... not cool.

 

yea its dd and race but i heard if you get to big of one the tranny will pop.

 

Just get a good tranny cooler and get a transgo shift kit. Your tranny is still pretty low mileage, so it might stay there awhile. Are you planning on a cam swap? I'd go with a 3000.

 

yea im thinking of doing a cam swap maybe a tsp 220/220 but yea thats what i will do get a tranny cooler and shift kit but who can put a shift kit in around here.and yea ill go ahead with the 3000 stall. What brand vig,yank,etc..

 

The guy that built Joey's trans did good. He's had no problems yet with it. I'd go up to advance and ask him who it was. Yank and Vig are both good converters. I'm happy with this fuddle thus far, but make sure you get the truck version. The ones for the cars just don't seem to hold up.

 

yea i was looking at the yank truck thruster 3000 and i think for a trans im going to go with flt lv3.what i might do is get the cooler the shift kit and see how long it lasts cause ill use the cooler with the flt.

 

If ya got the cash, might as well buy the best parts

 

and if you dont have the cash just buy cheep $hit like me!
