Most of the time when an engine has hydrolocked the connecting rod bends. It is still a good idea to check the block though.

I hydrolocked my old 4.8 and it broke #7 rod and put a nice sized hole in the side of my block

Just my 2 cents, get an ls2 402 from Futral. You diffently need a cam bigger than a 224.

futral sounds like a good thing. then it isn't that far from me so i could pick it up and also get a cam from him at the same time

I'd definetly go bigger on cam....at least mid 230's on duration and upper .500's to lower .600's on lift.
