Default Terrible Dealership!

I can't believe this. I bought my truck around 5 months ago from a dealership here in Arkansas. Everything is fine with the truck itself but the dealership or the bank won't do anything about getting the title to me so I can pay sales tax and have it registered. I have been trying for 5 months to find out what the deal is and I have no clue of anything. I call the bank and they say the dealership has it, I call the dealer and they say the bank has it. The bank told me the dealership said they would take care of it and send me everything just the other day but when I call up there I either don't get an answer or some idiot answers. I feel the dealership has everything and the bank is just waiting.

What can I do about this? I mean I've put 2000 miles on the truck in 5 months and it's starting to get old with nothing to drive. I'm sure some of you guys have went through something like this, I just need a little advice. Thanks,

Cody

is the truck paid for? also a tag receipt thing should come in the mail so you can go to the tag office and get your tag. you paid for it when you bought the truck.

Nah the truck isn't paid for, I've payed 4 months on it for it to set in the garage. All I know is that the bank needs everything because it is financed through them but Crain Chevrolet won't get off of their *** to do anything about it..

you might want to go talk to the manager of the dealer then and if you cant get anywhere then go talk to the manager of the bank. they should of had all the paperwork done by now. if your getting a bill on it every month then you should be able to get a tag and insurance on it for sure.

You don't get the title until you pay off the loan. You should have paid tax & licensing at the time of purchase. Sometimes you pay it up front otherwise they will just tack it onto the loan amout and you can pay interest on that too.

What exactly are you waiting for?

I'm waiting for the papers on the truck so I can pay the sales tax. I have to have those papers before I can register it, pay sales tax, and get tags. I'm totally confused by all of this so I can't really explain what I've been told and what needs to be done.

normally when you buy the truck, you pay "TT&L" (tax, title, and licence) fees. did you not pay this when you bought the truck?? you don't get the title until it's paid off, the bank shouldn't have paid the dealership until they had the title and branded it with a lien in their favor.

I know some states are different about holding the titles but in Alabama the banks hold the titles until the lean is paid off. We just use the Tittle appl. paper work to get a tag. That suck dude. Have you been doing all you can? I would have whipped some *** by now
Go see you a lawyer. I'm sure one letter from them and the dealership will be willing to help you. Lawyers charge $50 for the letters sometimes, maybe nothing.

When I have bought each of the 5 trucks I have owned in Arkansas, I left the dealership with what I needed to license the truck. Just had to add it to my taxes, and go to revenue office. On new trucks I never had a title, just bill of sale, cert. of origin(I think thats what it is called), and loan contract.
I think I would get a lawyer involved. And you can always call GM about a dealer, I have done it and it usually gets their attention.

I guess if I don't hear anything back by tomorrow I'll call a lawyer. I know of one that will be glad to help me out a little. Thanks for the responses guys, I'll post the outcome if there ever is one.

I have a question though, why was this thread moved to the Southern section when Arkansas isn't included in the southern section? Ahh well, this thread belongs in this section as well as Arkansas, you guys got the rednecks mixed up with the yankees.

glntom, where is Glenwood exactly? Check out the Central and Northern section since you're from Arkansas, we're having a huge meet this summer.
