typical break in for a motor on the original motor is 500-800 miles... its okay to put it in after that, im sure you have more miles than that tho.

I put it in right when I bought my Avalanche used at 43k, thats about where I seem to get all my vehicles and never had any problems doing it.

i was told by a mechanic that to wait until about 10k until putting some in because the rings arent broken in yet.

ha the rings seat in the first 25-50 miles i think.

idk about the break in from the factory thing... but ya you dont need 10k miles for the rings to set in.. you'll be okay to put in syntheic now probably.. how many miles do you have?

When I got my 06 I changed the oil 2 days later and put mobil 1 in it,then changed that at 500 miles and then went 1000 miles and then now every 3000 miles.
