just wondering what it would look like all red or green.
i have the super brite leds for when i build a sci-fi model.
blue, green, red, orange, i get the cheap off of e bay in
in sets of 50.
would like to do mine, lost a few lights off of the radio, think that would look
good in red, with cluster in blue and everything else in green.

one thing though for any one that does not know.
leds work one way, their not like a light blub.
one end is positive and the other is negative.
hook it up backwards and it will not light up.

the twist locks come apart that's how I did mine, and wedged them back in

it's really easy . . . the first one sucked, but it was easy after that. They have all kinds of colors to go with. They also have some that are directional also. YOU WILL NEED a small set of needle,long-nosed pliers for it, a regular sized ones won't cut it, they're too fat.

if you swaping one led for another, you should not have to use a resistor.

well that's what I thought . . . I was told to use a 680, and the one that I pulled out was a 1K.

Has anyone else done this?

I have done quite a few LED swaps. I would need more info for exactally what your doing to help. But as far as the resistance, it really depends on Two things things:

1) The LED's ratings

The Resistance is dependant on its forward voltage rating, and the forward current rating (in milliamps). There are some calculators out there to find the correct resistance,

2) The Circuit your installing LED's into, and the # of LED's

If the circuit is Series or Parallel makes a huge difference. The Cluster in the 03+ is all parallel, which means source voltage is 14V at all Bulb locations so I need one resistor for each LED. Where as the AC Controller is three separate series bulb circuits. This means that the source is split three ways and three bulbs in each branch. I only have to use 1 resistor on the AC Controller because the LED's I use are rated for 4 Volts of forward voltage, so three bulbs takes 12 volts, but the 1 resistor is rated to take the additional couple volts from the trucks 14V Power.

If you were doing a direct swap from a LED to a LED the resistance difference would not be great but needs to be close. But if your going from a Lamp to a LED, then you may want to do some research on the curcuit and LED's.
