well Mr. Sig maker, I think you'll be fine. I haven't read any books or took any classes, just dabbled with the software. To me, all software is the same..."File, Edit, View, Tools, Help" from there just explore. But a 4" thick book would be interesting, I am sure there are a ton of things I could do if I just read or studied it. Actually I am sure there are ton of things I could do EASIER if I'd just read.

When you upload your video, that's where the hard decisons are. I finally figured it out (after hours and hours of trying to crop) to make the setting so that as it uploads, every 10 seconds is another "scene". That is the biggest advice on uploading video. This makes it real real easy for your to find the "particualr" vid/part you are looking for. Ofcourse you can change that setting to whatever you want. Another thing, (you got me on a roll) I learned how to be a better video recorder due to the pros and cons of uploading and editing video. Use the pause button ALOT. If you get good at that then you can upload your video and change the setting to "automatic scene" detection and it will detect your "pause" and make it a scene. Of course it will make a new scene if your scenery changes abruptly, but you'll get the point.

Should change this thread to "how to". LOL

I did make it with the beta.

^^ LOL probably a good idea. This will be the first time I sit down and actually read a book on a program lol. I learned similar to what you said as far as Photoshop goes. I just kept tinkering around with things and familiarized myself with the basic junk. There is still so much to be learned though it's crazy...And I'm sure that Adobe Premiere will be the same way. What you mentioned about setting the software to 10 second scenes is another thing I don't like about Movie Producer. At least with Windows Movie Maker it will seperate clips when the camera switches to another scene...Movie Producer doesn't at all. It's one big scene that you have to go in and crop/trim. Man I really want to try out the Pinnacle software now lol. Thanks for the tips, I'll keep you posted if there is anything useful learned in my class this semester.

I picked up a recent verson of Pinnacle Studio a while ago, but haven't had a chance to play around with it. I did take a quick peak after I installed it, and it does seem to be a nice setup.
