Something is definetly wrong

:barf: I dont know what happened but all of a sudden last night my truck started to misfire very badly:bang: It'll chug out and feels like it wants to die for some reason... Happens when I try to get in the gas, I give it more than half throttle and the truck just bogs out... I get the flashing SES light so thats the only way I know there is a misfire:barf: This was just after I put gas in. I left the station and went to haul back to the house and it didnt want to:turd: Anybody have any ideas?

TouchOfEvil04 11-12-2007 08:44 AM

Check your cai. Make sure it's hooked up at all the connections. Mine came off before and did the same thing to me.

Colby 04 11-12-2007 09:17 AM

Well, since it started directly after filling up with gas - that's the first thing I would check.

greyghost4x4 11-12-2007 10:33 AM

water in gas possibly

Checked connections right after I posted this... Checked connections for my injectors, anything I could see, I wiggled and pushed to make sure it is tight...

I just dumped some Lucas treatment in it. Gettin ready to go back to work. Hopefully it'll run itself through... Sucks because I put half a tank in it :(

DixieDevil 11-12-2007 12:27 PM

ok, nothing is helping! It might even be getting worse :barf: When I get in the gas it really bogs down. Feels like someone dropped a ton of rock on the front end... I just hooked my amp and subs back up... could it have messed with the pcm or something? I am lost here... It just started out of nowhere :bang::barf::barf:

ZZebes 11-12-2007 12:44 PM

Siphon all that gas out and start there,

check plugs, wires, CAI, MAF

Unplug the battery for a half hour or so

Try the simple stuff first

BLACKND 11-12-2007 01:00 PM

I'b bet anything you've got a bad plug or wire. I had that happen to me twice with both my 04's and both times it was a bad wire.

Colby 04 11-12-2007 01:41 PM

If you got bad gas, additives may not help. You need to drain out the old and get some fresh gas in there. IMO, there's a strong possibility you got bad gas.

EDIT: A flashing SES light is usually an indicator of multiple cylinder misfire also...

DixieDevil 11-12-2007 06:04 PM

Went to Auto Zone and had them read my codes for me... Here they are... P0172 Bank 1 too rich
P0300 Random Misfires
P0101 MAF sensor condition
I checked the wires going to my MAF and as best as I can tell, it's fine. Tomorrow I'll take it out and make sure it's clean and everything... Is there any way to lean it out with out tuning? I am getting retuned by Rhyno79 next month, but he is in Arkansas.

Colby 04 11-12-2007 09:37 PM

You don't need to adjust the tune, take out your MAF and clean it with TB cleaner to see what happens.

Colby 04 11-13-2007 08:46 PM

well?

DixieDevil 11-14-2007 05:02 AM

Havent got to do anything yet... worked from 4-8 yesterday and was to tired by the time I got home.... oh and I ran it out of gas... I forgot to grab my wallet when I left the house yesterday :(

joshua022 11-14-2007 06:27 AM

oh and I ran it out of gas... I forgot to grab my wallet when I left the house yesterday :([/QUOTE]

Maybe that was a some-what good thing. Now fill it up at a different station than before and see if anything changes.

DixieDevil 11-14-2007 12:55 PM

Yeah, thats why I wasnt to upset that it ran out, I wasnt far from home. I just called my brother and he came and got me... then I went home and passed out

DixieDevil 11-14-2007 08:49 PM

Ok, so I get home a little late again tonight and take it apart, clean it out, wipe my throttle body as much as I can and get it cleaned up as best as I can... It'll run now, keep itself idling, but still bogs out when I mash the gas. Still wont take off... :bang: and now late enough and no lights :chug:

TouchOfEvil04 11-14-2007 10:08 PM

I'd say you got a fueling issue. Have you checked your fuel pressure?

DixieDevil 11-15-2007 04:54 AM

No, but I dont have anything to check it with

THE-HOE 11-15-2007 06:51 AM

i dont think this would be making your ses light flash, but it sounds like a really bad fuel filter. One of mine was so bad once, that as soon as i would touch the gas it would just start shaking and runnning like complete crap.

Exactly what happens, the SES light is not flashing anymore... It was running better for awhile but then it got worse again. But it is not misfiring. I need to change my plugs, i had one at the house and had to replace on of mine because when I checked them, one was cracked and after I took it out of the socket it fell apart.

StrokerAce03 11-15-2007 09:45 AM

I agree with the fuel filter; or maybe even the pump.

DixieDevil 11-15-2007 10:31 AM

cool, well at least it's only $7 and it wont hurt to pull it and change it anyways!

Thats true, for that price you cant go wrong. let us know how it works

DixieDevil 11-15-2007 10:45 AM

Good deal it's raining here, that way I can get in the mud and water to change it out!

Colby 04 11-15-2007 12:27 PM

At least you have a fuel filter to change:jest:

DixieDevil 11-15-2007 01:21 PM

Yes, I'm very excited. We just flat towed it behind my buddies 05 Z71 with it pouring rain and got it home. Hasnt let up on the rain yet:(

THE-HOE 11-15-2007 09:13 PM

im anxcious to see if it works just do it haha

DixieDevil 11-16-2007 12:08 PM

Ok, got it swapped out. Now it wont start! Tried jumping it because the battery died when we were towing it home... Still nothing. I have the battery unplugged right now, maybe it'll reset itself and then we can try and jump it again

Colby 04 11-16-2007 12:47 PM

What do you mean won't start? Won't turn over? Won't fire off?

DixieDevil 11-16-2007 01:31 PM

it wont fire off... it'll sit there and crank, crank, and crank but no fire.... Do I need to pressurize the fuel system again somehow?

Nick™ 11-16-2007 03:15 PM

just turning the key off and on a couple times will get the fuel system primed... I real curious to what your fuel pressure is. If you make it a habit of running low on fuel and with the given symptoms I wouldn't be surprised if you killed a fuel pump. See if your local part store has a fuel pressure gauge that they loan out or a cheap one to buy

DixieDevil 11-16-2007 03:24 PM

I dont usually let it run low, and it never runs out :( I really hope this isnt it.... I really dont have the $300 for the part

THE-HOE 11-16-2007 05:28 PM

im not sure if its possable, due to thread size, but did you put the fuel filtter in backwards?

ZZebes 11-16-2007 05:35 PM

Colby 04 11-22-2007 12:28 AM

well?

DixieDevil 11-22-2007 11:22 AM

Still sittin there. I bought a hoopty for now instead. I didnt wanna spend the money on the truck and then it be something else, and still be without a vehicle. This way I can let it sit and I have a dd when its fixed anyways

DixieDevil 12-17-2007 11:35 AM

Ok, been on ship for a couple weeks, brother got under the truck and I turned the key. he can hear it turn on. So I start thinkin and talkin with a buddy who just gradutated from UTI and he suggested my cam sensor maybe even something to do with the PCM... Well I changed out the cam sensor and it didnt do anything, but now it will start to crank but it's a slow crank and the nothing. Every couple of times it'll make a sound for a split second like its gonna turn over but oterwise it'll just crank till the batt dies. Maybe my starter? :barf: This sucks!:bomb:
