I just talked to Wheatley a litel bit ago about doing my next tune. After talking to him it seems that my previous tuner did some things I did not want, and did not do things I wanted. Hell, It was a big difference to me and I did not know the difference...lol

So anyways, is there anythign I can do besides a correct tune to help the tranny out (both performance and longevity)?

I already have a 26,000 tranny cooler here, is there anything else I can do in the meantime?

Vette servo, shift kit, etc?

I knwo you guys have been to hell and back with your auto's. I don't have a problem with replacing a tranny but I don't want to do it in the next 500 miles..lol

So far I have on the way Pacesetter LT's, cam, springs, pushrods, arranged pre-order with Wheatley, Eaton with Yukon 4.11's...still have to order TT3000

Should be like christmas around here for the next couple of weeks, and the wife is already pissed

Yes, eventually. Thats why I'm getting all my supporting mods now. I just cannot find a decent deal on one around here, so I'm just going to wait for now. Hell by that time I might be able to get a stroker of some sort

I guess I'm working a bit backwards, but I would rather have everything needed to support a good 6.0 swap then have a bone stock engine and have to piece everything together.

are you looking for a complete pull-out? or just a short block with heads?

another route you could take. A 5.3l block can be b ored and ASSEMBLED in memphis for 500$. You would have to contact The wood Hauler or Rhino79 to ask the guys name and number. He is a engine builder like 20 min north of memphis, cant think of the anme of the town.

But you could get some off the shelf ls1 pistons and even forged rods if you wanted to. And bore it to 3.905 and use the stock 5.3l crank. Then you owuld about 35 more cubes. Might be something to look into also.

Sorry if im making your desicion really dificult. But i went down this road all not to long ago. I have since sold a 5.3l i had sitting in my garage and now have a 6.0.

I was originally looking into a complete low mileage pullout or long block. I have since been looking into rebuildable long/shortblocks. Right now I have alot of parts coming in for my truck and have put the swap on the back burner for now. I'll find one I'm sure, where I least expect it and build it right.

I actually thought about going the route you are saying on the 5.3, I thought maybe this thread would lead to a frankenstein engine of some sorts...lol
I live by the "no replacement for displacement" rule and think it's better to sit back and let the 6.0 come to me, instead of jumping into something adn not be happy.

I know it seems like I have no direction with my truck build, but like I said before I'm new to the NBS trucks. I'm a big inch carbed smallblock guy at heart and this fuel injection stuff is throwing me for a loop.

This is why I ask all the questions and ask for comments on specific items that I cannot find searching. Personal accounts of a certain product/procedure goes alot farther with me than a manufacturer claim.

Plus, it's a good way to meet new friends in the process.
