Rep. Donnie Bell, Transportation Committee vice chairman, said nitrous oxide enables cars to hit speeds of up to 200 mph in "very short amounts of time."

Truth of the story is, cop was an idiot who couldn't control his crown vic at speed and lost it.

I'm local. This happened maybe 5 miles from my house.

it sucks our local site has been fighting it for a few weeks. This bill also prohibits transport of this substance in a motor vehicle. That means you can't take it to the track. Not sure what will happen but i was told that our state reps don't know how nitrous works and they do not care to research it.

What does it matter that the car had nitrous? What if he was boosted instead? Or what if he had a bigger h/c motor? Horsepower is horsepower. What's next, outlawing anything that increases your vehicle's performance?

I'm sorry that the trooper died, but I still fail to see how the nitrous is to blame. The article makes it seem like the trooper lost control of his vehicle because of his own actions. The nitrous fairy didn't jump into his car and cause him to crash.

It was sad that cop died but the law won't change a thing. They should install nitrous on cop cars instead. lol
