I know how you feel man. Mine broke fathers day weekend. It started slipping going into second, then my reverse went out. The shop i went to qouted me anywhere from $600-$1500 to have it fixed. Luckily it did not have to rebuilt. I forgot exactly what was changed in mine, but the guy said everything else was still good. It ended up costing me $800 to have it fixed. I really could have used that $800 for school or to do other things to my truck. Good luck with yours.

well, i have to lean on my mother in law right now to help me pay for it. I am about to start calling and getting prices. i did find a tranny online for 1400 that is fully built. with a 12 month warranty. so as of now i have to weigh all my options. thinking of it, i did have a guy quote me 1200 or so for a standard rebuild. damn these things are expensive.

John, I have spent $2600 on the first "really" built transmission, and $2700 on the second one..
(not including the Cottman fiasco
)
both Transmissions are Stage 2 racing Transmissions

I know a guy that will rebuild it for $300 if you supply the parts and bring him the tranny. The parts is where your money will come in. Anywhere from about 300 for a basic rebuild kit to 1000 for fully beefed up parts.

Kenny beat me to it. I was going to say if you pull it out and take it in it will save you alot of money towards the rebuild. Once you find out what parts you need let me know. I might be able to save you some money on them if you use GM stuff.
