Well after having this stuff covered by dust forever, Me and a friend finally installed some of it. I got off work at 3 pm got home little after that. Got started about 4, started with the perma-cool, that was easy lol wish I could say that for the rest
Not sure what time I started taking the exhaust out. Disconnected the y pipe from the flowmaster and from the passenger side manifold and now the fun begins lol. Used a short 15mm on the pass side(worked fine) Well on the drivers side I had to have a deep socket. Ok no prob, I will just use the 3/8" drive instead of the 1/2"( yea right). So off to Sears we go. They have a deep socket 15mm but it is a 12 point not a 6
So I get it( not much choice). Ok back under the truck well what do ya know the damn 12 point socket stripped out the first nut I tried. So I go to the next one and does it break loose, no but the stud does out of the manifold so it is tight all the way out. The third one hmm good thing I picked up a universal joint while I was at Sears. It was not to bad though. Ok now for that stripped nut. I ended up hammering on a 6 point short socket for the 1/2" drive but the extension would go in the socket very much at all. Time to bust some knuckles lol. Finally got it and with no bloody fingers lol. That was a pain in the butt. Ok so now I get the y pipe out and start taking the o2's out. The first one comes right out. The next three F***ING STRIP OUT
( I want to drive my truck tonight). I was like wtf this sucks. OK I will worry about that later. Get the manifolds off( back bolt on drivers side is almost a pain). Did the servos while the exhaust was out of the way. That was about as easy as the cooler. I was thinking someone said the pass side went in easy from the top hmmmm not for me messed with it for a few minutes. Then tried it from the bottom adn it went right in no problem. Now to the drivers side. Was not too bad I did have to take the steering apart to get it in. Slip the ory on and bolt everything up. Now for the o2's, Luckily they did not strip out too bad. I ended up taking a file and cleaning up the threads good enough to get them in. I got lucky
So I guess that was not to bad for the first time. From about 4 till 10:45 with about a 35-40 minute Sears break and about 15-20 minutes to eat, We put in the tranny cooler, servos, LT's and the ory. BTW It sounds damn good straight headers. Hell I had to crank it up before the y-pipe went on
Sorry for the long post lol.

any tips you would suggest on making the headers and ORY easier??? I will be oding mine in a couple weeks... the parts are already sitting at home.... I never thought it would be such a PITA to swap them out..

yeah.... I guess that would be one of those "duh" things.... I will have a large can of wd-40 standing by... what about putting them in??? pass from the top driver from the bottom?? etc etc... the y is kind of self explanitory I would think as well...

I put both of mine in from the bottom. The pass side was easy from the bottom. Tried getting the drivers side in without taking the steering loose but could not do it. Now my damn steering wheel is upside down
So I need to fix that. Changed the plugs too. Open the box of MSD wires WRONG ONES
They are too short. Get some good penetrating oil , it is much better than wd-40, I think.

liquid wrench is great, your supposed to mark the steering shaft before taking it loose lol, you don't have to take the fender wall out, there is a bolt that is on the passenger side coming out of the cab just below the a/c dryer, cut it flush to the nut, it will help alot. good luck everyone with there projects.

Nope did not have to take the fender wall out. The pass side pretty much went right in from the bottom. Yea v8 it would have been good to mark it but after fighting the drivers side for a while with the steering connected I did not even think about marking it when I took it apart lol. I was ready to get it in.
