I've been thinking about buying a pistol
I have been looking at the
Smith and Wesson M&P .40 cal
The Walther P99 .40 cal
Or the CZ 75B .40
Im not lookin to spend a grand on a pistol. Anybody got any experience with these. Im really leaning to the Smith and wesson with the Walther in close 2nd
I have been told the CZ is a good gun but dont know much about them.
Any pros or cons to any of them?

have you looked at the springfield .40? That is a hell of a pistol. It really depends on what you will be using the pistol for. That will tell you what brand to lean to.

things you need to look at are,
price? you said not a grand but how high are you willing to go? you get what you pay for to an extent until you get into custom gunsmith 1911s and they can run up to $4-5k for a single pistol.
how will you use it? range? concealed carry? vehicle carry only?
what features are important to you in a pistol?
what caliber?
will you be buying any accessories for it?
BUT, the final deciding factor should be for you to go to a gun range and rent and shoot as many of them as you can and see which one feels the best to you and that you can shoot comfortably.
btw, i have a S&W SW9VE-Sigma Series and its all around a good gun but the trigger on it absolutely sux *****, ive never seen a gun of any kind with that long of a trigger pull.
try SSU's weapons & firearms section. also check out ar15.com if you want to read up on some 1911 style pistols.
I also think the springfield XD pistols are one of the best values out there right now

+1 for the Springfield XD. I have a XD9mm and really looking at buying a XD.45 THey are extremely tough. They have been put thru some of the same testing as the glocks and performed great. Excelent pricing too. I would beware of the S&W. I haven't been very impressed with their semi-autos. They do make some great revolvers though.

Well the M&P is a new design and I have heard nothing but good things about it. The more I look I have ruled out the CZ.
but Im really starting to like the walther. its going to be used for vehicle, carry in the woods, maybe some on my side (not worried about it being conceled) I do not want a compact as I have very big hands and the compacts are not comfortable. Im gonna go and shoot the S&W and the Walther. I shot a springfield about a year ago and just didnt like it.
I planned on shooting anything several times before I bought anything
