how to "BB" mod your Tstat

Hey I recogonize that thermostat


It lowered the temps by about 15° - 20° I was running at about 195 now its at 175°/180° all the time. Tranny temps dropped by about the same as well.


I sat idling for 20 mins with the AC on yesterday and it never got about 185°.

it will depend on vehicle. this was Brads' thermostat that we did this one too, i had it done to my truck and i did it to my sisters tahoe. her tahoe would sit at 210 without the mod and now it sits just a hair above the line between 160 and 210

looks like, on average, it drops the temps down to around 180-190.....so does that mean 2 BB's will get you 160?

Great writeup, I sure hope BB's don't rust because I've got one lodged in my arm. I don't think rust in my system would be too good.

It will stay open. I would try to explain how the thermostat works, but I dont feel like typing that much.
