gotta share my oreillys autoparts story
#1
so today after work i decide to stop by oreillys today to buy my engine stand, so i pay for it and the guy behind the counter ask what im buying it for, i tell him to hold a 6.0 shortblock for my truck, he asked what the truck ran, i said a 14.5 but i want to be in the 12s with the engine and bolt ons, he said that was okay but he has a "friend" with a stock 5.3, no supercharger, no turbo, no N20 and runs 10.4 in the 1/4. i asked him what was done to the truck in which he replies its a stock 5.3 with a really huge cam and a forged crank, i just grinned and walked out after he said that, i was embarassed for both of us

Those kind of people are exactly the reason I always know exactly what I need, part numbers and all before I go in. I have learned way too many times that if I don't tell them exactly what I need, I end up with the wrong parts. Heck I have even had them look up the wrong part number for a light bulb. The guy tried to tell me that the old round base style would fit in my 2003....lol

I don't ask what goes, I ask for them to go get!
Dumb-azzes here near me don't know how to change a flat tire, let alone advise me on autoparts.

I have an employee at work that is kind of like that. Said he had a 64 Ford Falcon, in which I asked him if it had a V6 or a V8. He told me that it had a V6, I just looked at him and smiled...lol..I still don't know if he understands it would be a straight six or not.
I also sent this same guy to Advance Auto to look for some bondo in a can. I told him that it smoothed itself out and required no sanding or additional work. Just spray the bondo in a can on and paint over it. I have a friend at Advance that played along with it as well.
