Default Done a few mods last week....

First off my truck is a 2001 ECSB silverado, 5.3L, 4L60E, only mods were ebay CAI and e fans. ran 10.05 at 70, 2.37 60' at DMP on stock tires.

Sprayed a dry 50 shot and ran 9.64 @ 74, again stock tires. 2.27 60'

ok the motor had 273,000 miles and it was burning oil like crazy. I knew it was gonna leave me if I didnt do something. So i broke down and got tired of gauking over everyone elses sick *** trucks on here and even local. Ive never had nothing cool or fast and sense my truck needed a motor anyways....I decided to swap up.

I copped a LQ4 for $900 out of a 2500 HD. Swapped it last wed - thrusday by myself in my buddies garage. Finished it thursday and it was hella weak untuned. But i knew it would change once tuned. I got it tuned saturday and boy with a few minutes and some blasts done the road this thing is moving for a big truck. There is no traction under 35 mph. That makes me smile a little. But without a locker its useless.

I give my props to the tuner because without the tune the swap was not what i thought it was for a second. It wouldnt spin a tire...tuned...its like 200 more rwhp. lol

Ok so here is a few pics. nothing special, everyone has the same thing but anyways. im happy so look.

Heres the motor all cleaned up and painted ready to go in

heres a pic of the OBX stainless longtubes that fit awesome and are very nice for the price.

notice the egr blockoff plate.

Heres the engine installed. I wrapped the CAI tube with titanium header wrap to combat heat getting into the intake. Its got to work, and previously the tube would get hot enough to burn your hand or at least be really hot when you pop the hood. Now its not so bad so im sure the IAT are lower. Cheap mod, every little bit helps.

anyways thats where ive been, plus i got laid off from work so I had plenty of time to get the work done. Im all ive spent about $1,500 in the swap total including tune. The motor had to be changed anyhow so I think i made the right choice.

next....i need to borrow some tires ...anyone....haha

Congrats bud turned out good! I would had to take the 5.3l to the track one more time and try 150 shot just to see what it would have done haaha. Did you add that cam you had?

I see 4:10's and tru-trac in your near future! Than you'll be consistent 9:0's territory

degreaser and pressure washer.

Yeah I removed the pads under the intake ont he 6.0L also.

Im not sure Im gonna swap the gears out, or at least im not gonna change it much. I drive it daily, best mpg possible is important still. But a locker is DEFINENTLY priority.

Going out to DMP tonight to run. Wont have crap for traction though. Maybe I can baby it to a mid 9. It ran 9.64 on a 50 shot with the worn out 5.3 and the 6.0L is stronger than the 5.3L was on a 100 when i sprayed it on the highway. it "SHOULD" run quicker than 9.50 with **** for traction

Slowec told me to lok on www.carpart.com and it lists the places closest to you with the part your looking for. I found it here in town for a killer price with 99K on it. I checked it out and it looked great. I know its not 50K or less but these motors are built to last if you take care of them. I.E. Change your oil

Very nice. I'll either be doing a 6.0L swap or TVS when my crew cab is paid off. I understand the need for mpg. I know I hate my 3.23s but the mpg they get going to work just rocks. I will be changing out for 3.73 one day though.
