Default cam for DD

i have a 5.3 pretty much stock with 144k on it. would it be stupid to cam it because of the mileage?

haha, I was worried about mileage as well. I dont think it's really gonna put much more stress on ur bottom end unless u start running nitrous or turbo it. I'd do it. U'll love it. Trans might bite the dust tho

Yep I put the first cam in at 125K and then pulled it out and went bigger at around 175K sold the truck w 225K on the clock. The new owner ran it for awhile and then used the same cam in a 6.0 I believe...

When you start to spin it up in the higher RPM's w/ a bigger cam the stock tranny WILL take a ****...anything over 5500 RPM's and the tranny is not designed for it, usually the 3-4 clutch tends to burn up first if none of the hard parts let go...

well hell, if you guys are talking about throwin' in a cam @ 144k... then i guess i shouldn't even have to worry about 65k then... eh? lol.

The ladies Chariot (Lady3bglover)just did an overhaul as well it was installed at 112,000 miles on it,TSP 220/220 .581 112LSA now she enjoys it more...Flaco just Dynoed it at Strictly Performance(342.42). Then went to the track and the best was a 14.2 @ 97.27 MPH thats W/20's on it.

TR220 or TSP220 are great cams for a 5.3l... well proven
