If you would have bought an FLT the first time then this thread wouldn't exist

Wow. This sounds exactly like the trans problems my brother in law experienced before we bought the truck from him. He broke virtually everything including pump gears! How the hell do you break pump gears? Since we've owned the truck the trans has only broke once. It was in a local dealership for brake repair. They fixed the trans for free and we've been good ever since. I re enabled torque management to 100% and that has helped a ton. It was shortly after disabling the TM that all the trans problems started. I hope you get the problem resolved on the next go round. I like the low first gear the 4L60's have vs the 4L80. I guess if you've got plenty of off idle torque or a high stall converter the taller first gear will be ok. The FLT's are holding up real well. Definitely a solid "next choice".

Best of luck.

Richard

I had it do this exact same thing once before and it broke the rear planets when it did so.
But with the 80e i'm gonna upgrade from the 3.73's i have now to ethier 4.10's or 4.30's.
Plus i'm gonna run a 3400 with 2.7str to help get it off the line as well.
Should be ok plus the motor is making some decent power these days hehe.

I wouldnt do the 80e, but thats just me..... I would change my tranny builder for sure, or go FLT or performabuilt>>> performabuilt has been getting some real good reviews.. take advantage of their sale, txsilverado is running one and beatin the hell out of it with no problems..

I'm gonna get a built one from FLT i know that but i am needing something to get me goin for a little while in the meantime. Plus a stock 80E with a shift kit/servo might take a good bit of abuse from me.
Just need my 3400stall i want........
Its stock.... it was bolted up to the LQ4 that i have in my truck now....
Stock converter and i even have the flexplate w/spacer and bolts.. 40k miles...

You can PM if your intrested... its my buddys so ill have to ask him how much..

Gonna consult Chuck tomorrow. See what he thinks. But honestly the motor should be putting very close if not over400hp to the wheels now with the worked heads and all. I plan on spraying it as well with at least a 125 shot and the truck isn't as light as you and Txsilverado.
My truck race weight is 5100lbs and DD weight of no less than 5400.
It also sees 6kplus at least once a week.
Just not sure a 65e will hold up but i'll see what Chuck thinks.

Yea boi! I can't get mad at my builder b/c I'm the one doing it. I think I'm immune to emotions about trans issues. I guess that's b/c my truck isn't my DD.
