Anyone still having trouble lately?
One would think that with approximately 175 paying sponsors (between LS1tech and here) at approximately $125 per month, that the paying supporting member thing would not be needed. I'm no accountant, but someone should be putting at least $250-$300K dollars a year into their mod-fund. I'm sure that's a little low actually.

btw, it's not me.

Wrong. Our tech sites didn't become successful due to a lounge atmosphere. We could just as easily delete this site and the other sites would still be just as busy. Unlike some competitor sites, which rely on off-topic stuff to stay validated.

See all the vehicles in my sig? It costs more per month than the payments on all of them combined to run these sites. A site this active isn't a freebie to our server host.

Even if I believed that, a monthly payment on a $300k mortgage is about $1800 P&I at 6%, which equals $9600 year in mortgage payments. Subtract that from the sponsor income and someone still has a bunch of "mod-money". Even if it cost $9600 per month, which I have a hard time believing, that's $115k or so a year. Still leaves something in the mod-fund. That's an overestimate I'm sure.

Like I said, donations are not needed. The supporting members option was discussed in the past but, hasn't been talked about for a while.

Guys, this has been brought up in the past and I'm sure it'll surface in the future also. These sites are a business but, also a place for us to learn about our vehicles and talk with other people interested in the same things. There are relatively few rules and the sites are free for users which is pretty good imho. They are not cheap to run with 4 servers and the amount of data being transferred but as has been said it doesn't account for the entire income from the sponsors. I'm sure anyone here that started a site like these wouldn't be complaining about some extra income.

Not sure how this thread got turned into a discussion of profits?
This is America, damn it, and last time I checked was still a democracy and free trade was the law of the land!

More kudos to the folk that make big $$ from organizing this and other web sites. It doesn't cost me another cent to come here and BS at all! I wish I was smart enough to have started this kind of thing, I'd be sitting back enjoying the good life!

Vote T1T for mod

I second that! You've got my vote, I mean, if it's a democracy.
