What about when you sign in it directs you to your preselected "favorite" forums arranged on a page just like the regular homepage, but just with what you want on it. , ie: Internal Engine Mods, Engine & Exhaust Performance,
Tuning & Diagnostics, Vehicles Classifieds, Southern, ect..
That way you don't have to sift through all the other headings to find what you are looking for.
Just a thought

There is a way to do this already but, not quite to the point you are talking about.
If you look to the right in the Forum header bar. There is a little blue square with two white arrows surrounded by a white circle. Just click on that button and you can close or open entire sections that you don't need to see.
Not exactly what you want but, might help some.

What I have been doing is putting a link to the sections that I frequent the most into the "Links" folder in the windows explorer favorites section. I had to shorten the names of the titles because I have 9 links to different sections, i.e. Classifieds, Eastern, Performance, Drivetrain...... You get the Idea right?
Open the page that you want to have the link go to, click on "Favorites" at the top of the window screen, select the top option "Add to Favorites..." then choose a short name for the section.
If the links don't show up on the toolbar, right click in the tool bar and make sure there is a check mark next to "Links"
You should be all set.
