I would not, the charger makes enough boost down low that I think I could regear to a higher gear. Traction is a big problem and 4.10 would make it worse.
My thought process is with having the 4L80 and its taller first gear and trying to make up for it.
I have 3.73 gears stock.
going to do a 2600-3000 stall with the 4l80e.
not looking to drag race it, just want one hell of a a rowdy truck around town. May do a drag n drive at some point too.
No need for 4.10 with the TVS. The higher 1st gear of the 80 is actually a benefit for traction and I doubt you will notice any performance drop off from it. Unless you are doing a sticky tire and suspension upgrades, you will likely still be able to roast both tires from a dig. Also consider your highway RPM with the shorter overdrive since it's a street truck.
*UPDATE*
Have got ahold of my guy finally(busy schedules)
truck is getting dropped off in about two weeks. Just placed my order for a DTR crossmember, Eaton trutrac, and my guy got my circle D converter on order.
Have to go next week to grab my fresh built 4L80e with a couple billet goodies.
Truck will be getting a new trans cooler, custom driveshaft, smaller pulley, and new tune.
Party time! Now your tuner can get aggressive with tuning and shifts will be much faster. That converter alone will make a huge difference. What converter and stall you going with? I have had several in mine before I was happy.
No clue which converter other than it being a Circle D. I left that up to my tuner/builder who knows my goals for the truck and that it is a street toy and the boys over at circle D.
I believe it’s going to be around a 2800 stall.
That is what mine is, works out perfect on the street and it’s ok at the drag strip. I still tow boats with mine regularly. Just need a bigger trans cooler.
4L80E has been acquired, tru trac has been acquired. Stall and flex plate should be at the tuner next week.
only thing I’m waiting on is the DTR crossmember. Once I get that, I’ll be getting the truck down to the shop. I was planning on dropping it off next Monday but may have to push it back a few days depending when the crossmember comes in.
Truck has been picked up and dropped off at the shop.
After talking with the builder today, decided we are going to drop down on the pulley and if need be, up the fuel pump and injectors while he has it.
