4.8/5.3/6.0 are the same block IIRC.
you could take 5.3 crank and rods with 4.8 flat top pistons and have a high compression 5.3...

6.0 has a different block. Bigger holes for pistons.
4.8/5.3 share the same block; as stated above, difference between 4.8 and 5.3 is stroke and piston type (5.3 = dished, 4.8 = flat top)
5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 have the same stroke different bores.

its been awhile since i have posted in here, but i've been given a gift...
about 2 weeks ago i helped a buddy swap a 402 into his already H/C/I LS1. the ls1 has 2.5 ported 5.3 heads from TSP. a cam whose name i cant remember but the specs were like 230/236 .598/.598 on a 112. everything done completely right in the engine build the first time and its a low mileage ls1 only having 60k miles with only 3k miles with the h/c/i. He was deployed and came back bought a bigger motor and for my help, he gave me the ls1. complete minus the oil pan and the intake manifold. i didnt think a fast92mm would work in my RST anyways. also... the ls1 is out of a 2002 Trans Am WS6.
now then... I have starred at this engine in my garage for 2 weeks now and i've about talked myself into putting it into my truck. What all do i need to worry about or need to swap over. i know most stuff will swap directly over... but intake mainfold and injectors are something i know nothing about. also i need a clutch and probably have my 5 speed rebuilt to handle the power. where do people take the 5 speeds to get rebuilt? not really wanting a 6 speed... not feasible right now. i know a tune is a must... but i DD this truck and have since i bought it new. with 105k miles on it, i'm starting to look at other trucks, but since i'm in love with it... this would help me gain my new toy feeling back! lol thanks in advance for the advice guys! also any questions are welcome!
