You must come from an area where everyone does the back woods redneck lowering. A properly lowered truck will tow and haul just as much as it did stock and if you put air bags in it will actually tow/haul MORE. Lifting an SSS is retarded as the AWD is not 4WD no matter what most people think. Why don't you just find a vette and put an axle under the front and fab up a 12" lift...I've seen it done.

In '05 AWD was standard for the first half of that model year, not an option.....for the second half of '05, RWD became standard and AWD discontinued.

To the OP. Look at the VortecMax trucks. Same 6.0 as the SSS, same or better transmission (4l70e), same or better rearend (14 bolt)
and a transfer case with high and low ranges. It is an SSS without the cladding and AWD.

Bear in mind that the horsepower on the SS is about 45 horsepower more than you will get with the 6.0 on the 1500hd.
