Default newb alert

hey guys im a resident of ls1tech and currently have a turboed 02 camaro and a few ls1 conversion cars that im working on
anyways ive been throwing around the idea of building a street truck lately
now there is somethings i want out of the truck and what i want to know if i should buy a non ss truck or a ss truck to start with and what the befits are

now what i want out of the truck
has to be 4x4 or awd
has to be extend cab or crew cab
i want leather interior lol
the truck might see some turns
and well most important is the truck will be getting a forged motor with compound boost and looking to make at least 800rwhp
i know whatever i buy will need the driveline to be upgraded so does it even matter if i get a non ss or ss?
lmk guys i appreciate your knowledge and im looking forward to joining the ranks soon lol

Buy and SS, there AWD, All are extended cabs, 6.0L (No replacement for displacement), and Leather seat were a common option, I've never seen one with out, Check out TBSSOWNERS store for DJM suspension upgrades, guy name Tony (NORCAL) he's awesome to deal with and great prices.

Well if you like the looks of the SSS than get one..I had a sc'd/H/C AWD 04 and loved it..But if you plan on building a drivetrain anyway no sense on the lq9/65e combo...A z71 LT would also fit your needs..plus the 4x4 non SS comes in crew cab which I like better (all or nothing)They both have Power everything, Leather, heated seats (some) ....And to get either truck to handle "some turns" would require aftermarket suspension..with the SS having the awd advantage.. The only positive thing I see of a non SSS is the ability to run it in 2wd...GOOG LUCK and WELCOME

ok soo ive been looking around and for the most part the only benefit so far for me for the non ss is the option of crewcab, the trucks seem to be in the same price range and i would be able to make more money selling the ss engine/trans then the non ss
does anybody know the strength of the 4x4 tcase vs the awd tcase?

I don't know, but I'm going to ASSUME a 4x4 drivetrain would be stronger than the SSS AWD. Some with more knowledge can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Neither one is "stronger" than the other, same basic components, just AWD or 4X4. Trans and diffs are the same, transfer case is different obviously, but if you aren't going to use 4-low or 2wd then whats the point? I would say that if you like the look of the SS just get it and upgrade the components you want. The SS has Z-60 performance suspension stock, so it sits a little lower, and handles quite well stock. The biggest problem any of the trucks have is not having a rear sway bar which are available aftermarket. The SS also has a larger brake master cylinder, and the 03-05 AWD's you perfer are all wheel disk also. I've got an 06 SS so i'm 2wd, but it's way more fun i think! They went back to drum brakes and they threw a 14 bolt rear at it, other than that everything else is the same, so if you're going to change the transfer, front diff, and tranny you'd already have a 14 bolt rear.

I love the SSS. It is definitely a different driving experience stock than the standard 4x4. You start off with a better starting point, and you can even rip the roads stock! I did on this one when it was completely stock and had a blast...(even in the snow but don't tell nobody). I like the AWD option because even 4wd high doesn't give the inclement weather confidence that AWD does.
