trans codes.

M30=4L60E
M32=4L65E
M70=4L70E

the 4L70E will be used behind the 6.0L H.O.'s. including the LS2 and LQ9.
Mine has the M32

well yeah, you have an 05' SS. all of the 05' SS Silverado's should have the M32 trans.

What is in the 14 bolt 9.5 that makes it so much better than the 10 bolt 8.5?(besides the obvious 14 bolts)

So only the 06+ will have the 4L70E?

yes, the 4L70E is something new for 06'.

as for the 14bolt rear, it has a few benifits. the ring gear is larger by almost an inch. the 14bolt has a much larger fluid capacity and stays considerably cooler during heavy load situations. i believe the 14 bolt rear also has larger axle bearings. i know the axle tubes are larger and built to handle considerably more load. with the right choice of parts in the 9.5 14' bolt i'd say it should be good well into the 10's.

The 9.5" ring gear for one. Plus the factory G80 is a bit more stout than the 10 bolt. Higher towing capacity and the options of steeper gears might be there too. They're not bullet proof though, just ask grippy.

They probably rob more power, but they can be built to take more power. I think the spline count on the axles is higher too.

Not unless it comes in at least mid to high 400hp with at least another 50 tuneable hp. Then I'd consider it. The next L due in 08 will be a beast and there is no doubt Dodge will make the necessary changes to make the SRT10 a serious contender!

man chevy needs to make a reg cab chevy ss. But they need to tweak the engine to make close to 500 hp. Chevy needs to beat the srt/10 truck and the lighting. If it beats the lighting good but if it makes one that beats the srt/10 even better. And they need to make that kind of power without the need of a supercharger. And they need to sell the truck for less than the srt/10.
