Default General SS Questions

I'm thinking about purchasing a truck by the end of the year sometime, but as of now I don't know a whole lot about trucks. So far the SS has caught my eye though so I have some basic questions on it.

Typically what's a good/cheap price that I can find a good SS for? I'd also like to know if there is any significant performance difference with the older models compared to the newer ones?

What type of engine are in them? Overall how does it stack up against other performance trucks?

thx

I'll give you a quick summary of the Silverado SS. First year was 03, they came with AWD only and a 6.0L LQ9 engine producing 345hp and 385 ft lb of torque. In 03-05 they made them in Onyx Black,Arrival Blue and Victory Red. In 06, they made the option to have a 2wd model and also offered the 3.73 rear as an option opposed to the 4.10's they had in them since 03. Also, they added a silver birch metallic color to the lineup in 05,06 and I think 07. They all have the same engine from 03-07 and they respond VERY well to any mods you do to them. Search around in this section and also on Silveradoss.com and you will find alot more.

Couple more things:
1. 05 was offered in AWD and 2WD
2. 05+ offered electric fans
3. 14 bolt 10.5 3.73 in 2WD models
4. In 05 you have the option to get a cloth interior.
