So this may sound like newb question because, well I’m a complete newbie to automatic transmissions. With my 4l80, going from a dig or roll racing what’s the best shifter configuration to launch or doing a pull from a roll? Leave it in Drive? Manually shift? The only auto experience I have is in my CTS-V and with the 6l90 I just go into sport mode, down shift and go using the “tiptronic”
Manual 3rd is the safe bet, unless you know your trans was built using sonnax’s over run clutch kit. It keeps the overrun clutch applied at all times. When you use manual 3rd it will do this on its own. When in drive the overrun is not applied unless this valve body mod was done.
During the build I bought a brand new radiator cover. The old one was weathered so I had the old one painted with the rest of the body parts. To me it completes the look of the engine bay but it’s to nice to get chaffed from the hood contact.
So I decided to install the Caltracs. I also bought their hangers since my DJM hangers won’t work with the Caltracs due to DJMs hanger supports are welded below the leaf spring mount and not above it.
The Caltracs hangers look like they are going to raise the front leaf spring mount up by 1”-1.5” which I’m not willing to do. On top of that, the Caltracs hangers look like they weren’t even designed for our truck. Have any of you ran the Caltracs hangers? Did you mount them like this?
I’m debating on order Belltech 2” hangers to keep my rear drop the way it is and they also mount flush on the frame rail.
Is that the correct side? Looks like it would fit better on the DS, but also It doesnt look like the bolt holes would line up Either on the other side but tough to tell from pics. ive never heard of caltrac selling truck specific hangers fwiw tho
