Curious what has to be done to the column to remove the factory shifter handle? I am thinking of mounting a shifter in the center console on mine. I don't have a manual valve body on my 4L80, but mostly want it for a custom look. I assume the plastic cover is available for the column (without the shifter hole)? Otherwise the neutral safety and gear indicator are all built in to the switch on the trans as far as I know?

Seems like a can just run the B&M cable down there and connect it and everything will work "like stock".

Eventually I will probably go to a Pro EFI setup on the truck and completely rewire like you did. Great build by the way!

I believe there is a pin you just drive out to get the handle off. Then get a steering column cover for a manual trans truck.

This is an 04 truck but the 99-02 is similar.

Very helpful thank you. Did you source the column plastic pieces and handle cover thingy from GM?

Yes, that's what the person in that thread did.

If you can find a 99-02 truck with a manual trans, you can use the vin to get the correct part number for your truck.

Unfortunately the part is no longer available for order (discontinued) just as many parts for these trucks. Had to find my console parts from salvage yards. Guess I'll have to do the the same for the column covers

SORRY FOR THE HIJACK!

Sometimes there still in stock at a dealer. I have had my local dealer locate the part for me, then I contact the stocking dealer and have them see if the part is still on there shelf. I have had dealerships ship me discontinued stuff from across the country.

Those trucks are a rarity out her in California, But should I see one I will grab it
