Very true! Lol. And for the oil I've been using the maxlife with a wix filter since last oil change. The first oil change after the trans fluid change was a standard oil "thinking it was going to be a short live life"

 

Good to hear. Maybe when you get to the next oil change with the max life you see some more improvement.

I can't remember but I think by the second or possibly the 3rd oil change the smoking completely stopped on my engine.

I couldn't go more than 2000 miles between oil changes prior to that. I was consuming around 1 quart per 1000 miles.

Updated! Got around 21,xxx on this motor now-

Just did plugs, O2 sensors and CAI

On its 3rd winter with us- gets decent mileage out of the oil life- 2500 miles before it needs a quart

It's unreal -

now I have 2 motors to choose from if it goes- the lq9 (which I think will be going in my supercharged truck if I can) and a 05 5.3 ( small cam)

Another update 27,890 on it since I started this thread. The heart transplant is getting a look over with ls9 headgaskets and arp bolts just incase for future (learned with my other truck that is now boosted without this)


Its been sitting for about 2 years now- I fogged the motor and wow it broke down the carbon on the pistons all I had to do is wipe them

 

I do have a question on these arp bolts do I just torque them to spec and not worry about the yield part?

 

Yes. If there is a rotation or stepped torque values, follow that as well.
