Default Brainstorming....

Has anyone ever or is there even a way to put a rack and pinion in a 4wd gmt800??? Looking at the front end of my truck, there looks like there is plenty of room for the rack and being lifted i have the upper front differential mount on the driver side and if the steering linkage wasnt in the way it loks as though the idler arm mount tabs could be used on the passenger side.... Figure it would eliminate the pitman/idler arm issues altogether and racks seem to be a bit more responsive....

Well got my add aleafs, new blocks and bars mounted at the axle this evening, ran iut of time (and the patience) to drill the holes in the frame, so i had to use a little bit of redneck ingenuity to get the truck out of the shop, and ratchet strapped the bars to the frane temporarily....

New blocks, u bolts and add a leafs in place... And i lost a damn shock nut

Bars in, and about same angle as driveshaft...granted the truck was on a lift, but...

This started out as a temporary fix to hold the bars while i got everything together at the axle, and tightened it all up....

Im like a blind squirrel..... Found my nut this morning my shock nut..that is.. It rolled by the lock on the lift.... Sadly i looked there last night!!! Guess its what i get for rushing to get the hell outta there!!

While i was under there screwing the nut onto the bolt i took a peek at my pinion angle and its about as good as it gets, the old 4" fabtech blocks had very little angle to them the new blocks have quite a bit more of an angle to them! Hopefully it will take care of some of my vibration as well!!

After some research, it turns out i can buy a small trans cooler for about half the price of the replacement power steering cooler, think i may end up getting one and installing it. While i am waiting on my brackets anyway....

Talked to the owner of liftkitsforless today, he called procomp and they are sending me out a whole new kit, hopefully i will be able to get that installed shortly after it shows up and finally finish these traction bars. All i gotta say at this point is all this aggravation had better be worth it, havent been able to drive the truck, and its irritating the hell out of me....
