Right, my point was just with the stock driveshafts itself.

The factory shaft is weak from both torque capability and critical speed. For high power, I don't know what level people are ditching the stock shaft, however, lots of people even with factory power levels chuck the factory 2wd shaft because of exceeding critical speed.

Thanks guys!! I have my drive shafts out and the front one is heavier than the rear one haha. I'm going to a 4l80e swap but the drive shafts should be damn close to the same length. I'll see if I can keep the front one and get a new rear shaft made up just to be safe then!

My 80e swap needed a new front and custom rear.

Do you know the length differences? The 4l80 is a little longer but the transfer case adapter is shorter so I figured it would be close haha

That sounds right.

Also my custom driveshaft is steel good to 130mph+ and 600ftlbs at the wheels according to the specs and dimensions I provided the builder. I have a Yukon so my shaft length wasn't too much. I also valued strength and lower $$ over low 1/4

I gotta get the t case on the trans then I can get some measurements. Here's some pics of how the cross member and the mount were. It was about an inch and a half or so back from where the 6l80 mount bolted. So I cut the cross member and got that all welded up. Little overkill but rather it be sturdy!
