If you could live without a balance job on your tight notice a set of forged pistons would be good. Hell, maybe you could get it balanced within a few days. All the block would need is a good hone with torque plates (which is better than the factory does) since the forged pistons usually require .002" or so more tollerance than the stock cast pistons.
On the other hand I have know of people running 9.5 comp and 14lbs boost with meth and 93 octane and staying on top of the tune with stock pistons. The key is a close watch on the tune of course.

You use a stone?
You going to put some good pistons in it or roll with what ya got?
What are you going/did to use to clean the cylinders and rotating assembly? Im not having very good luck getting the rotating assembly clean with carburetor cleaner, everytime I rotate it over there is still alittle black residue on the cylinders.

An observation I have made form your pictures. It seems GM is really trying to standardize parts. Like you LS2 cam gear, the bolts for your valley cover are LS6 bolts, the LS2 rods and I would be willing to bet your pistons are the same they put in the LS2s. Guess it cuts costs to use the same rods and pistons in all the 4" bore engines even if the rods are a little more beefy(maybe expensive?). Wonder if your motor came with the LS6 oil pump?
