where to run wire through firewall
#1
Hello all,
I'm trying to get a wire from under the hood to inside the cabin, but I can't find any holes that seem to go inside, except one up very close to the windshield. Where should I be looking? I'd prefer for the wire to come in the driver's side, but the passenger's side will work too.
Thanks,
Dan

You don't have to drill any holes. You should be able to run it through the round rubber cup on the driver's side. Just move it over a little and the power cable should slide through. Someone can help in the inside by pulling it. It's no biggie. It should not take you more than minute.

I just use the stock grommet. It's on the driverside firewall(next to the brake booster on the fender side) and has a big bundle of wires going through it. Just take something stiff and fish it through. Then you can connect your wires and pull them through.

Exactly what XLR8NSS says. The spot can take quite a few wires & more.
I actually ran some braided fuel pressure and boost gauge hoses thru the same opening. I had to cut the rubber boot for them, but used some self-vulcanizing electrical tape to seal it all up watertight.

great..i think I know which hole you're talking about. If it's the one i'm thinking of, I think it's above the steering wheel in the firewall. If so, where does the wire come out? Thanks

High up in the upper left hand corner maybe above carpet line.
You will see a log of wires running into the cab from the engine compartment, and that same bunch will be coming thru the firewall behind the dash and above the carpet.
Hope my memory is corrct. Either way, not hard to find. Much easier w/ 2 guys and some sort of lubricant to help the wires slide thru.

OK, guys - I'm confused. I'm pretty sure I know which grommet you're talking about. If it's the one I'm thinking of - it's a cup about 3" wide and it's about a foot from the left (drivers) side, and maybe a foot down from the windshield. The only problem is, I just can't find where it comes inside. Maybe I'm stupid or something, I don't know. I just don't see it. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

I'm going to take a picture of it and send it to you. Don't do anyting until then.
I think you're talking about the steering shaft rubber boot, you don't want to run a wire through there.
Be right back.

Let me know where to send the photos too. My imagestation account is acting up right now.
