wheel idea...need opinions
#1
Alright, I've kinda gotten attached to my stock wheels even though they aren't real chrome lol..Anyway I started thinking about possibly getting the two rear wheel ones widened an inch or more. I've got a friend who got his stock SS wheels widened for $200 and the guy said he would do mine for the same price. My question is, is this a "dangerous" setup at all? I would imagine it would compromise the integrity of the wheel...but i'm no expert. If it's a good idea and worth it, what width should I widen them to? I don't the tires to be so big they pop out passed the fender well. Also, what tires would look decent with those wheels? I think they would look pretty decent after a drop and some good tires.

I had a bitch of a time trying to even find anyone who dos it for aluminum wheels. When I did it was wayy high on price.
If the shop doing it has the proper equipment no problem, just dont let Joe-Blow machine shop do it. safety is a major concern on a 5000lb truck going anything over 65mph with modded wheels.
Let me know what you end up doing and how much its costing you. Your wheels are steel right??

I personally would not do it. I would be most concerened about balancing issues and vibration at different speeds. Why widen them though? Are you wanting to run a tire wider than a 275 or something?
