Default VHT tails?

I'm thinking about doing my tails with VHT but I'm not 100% on how to do it I've read other forums and I've seen sand in between coats don't sand at all use clear after paint don't use clear at all so can anybody set me strait on what to do exactly so I don't screw up my lights

-clean the lights really well with dish soap and water and dry very well with lint-free cloth
-spray multiple very thin coats waiting at least 20 minutes between. a single coat should be barely noticeable. on mine, I used 5 or 6 coats.
-let dry overnight
-spray mutiple thin layers of clear (I used 4 or 5)
-wet sand last layer with 1000, then 2000grit
-polish and buff with polish and wax of your choice

this is the process I used 2 years ago and my lights still look just as good as when I first did them. the problem 99% of people make is they spray the stuff too thick and it cracks, the coats should be very thin and even, just enough of them to get the darkness you want.

I sanded with 600 grit first, wiped with alcohol, sprayed 3 LIGHT coats of the VHT, sprayed a bunch of coats of clear, wet sanded with 1500, wet sanded with 2000 grit, hit it with a couple different rubbing/polishing compounds, and a fine polish. Came out like this, and they still look damn good after 2 years.

Headlights dont look near as good as tailights, IMO. Also the heat from the lights could cause the paint to bubble and peel.

Yes. If you want blacked out headlights I would either order aftermarket ones or get the covers.

Yeah that's what I figured it might do and I just ordered some HID's so I really don't want to cover that up and how did u cover the reverse light so perfect I'm not good enough with a razor and tape to do it free hand

you wont be happy with blacked out headlights even with HID's. seen it too many times, the light output is horrible. Although it does look badass on a black truck.

I did my tails and 3rd lite with niteshades and it turned out great. like before mentioned, I sanded mine with 1000 grit before hitting it with VHT. I didnt have to wait between coats, I just hit it as black as I wanted it to begin with. They came out great but most dont.
Heres a pic
