Default Upgrading to HID! What temperature?

I was thinking about the 6000K HIDs. They are the bright white (vague blue tint) ones. But, I also like the white-ish purple ones in Cadillacs and Infinitis (12-15000K?). I just don't want them to look ricey.

6K is good more than that and you start getting into rice territorry. 12K is generally considered the purple hue of light on the HIDs. Xenarcs are 4200 and they look almost exactly like my Xesighting HIDs.

Anything over 6000K is retarded and pointless. Unless you like really purple lights. 4200, 5200 or 6000K are the only temps I would go for,

LMAO! Yeah, I got a few better pictures. The 12K is super queer. I think that I am going the 6000K route. I looked real hard at the cars driving home from work last night, they were all about the same color, it just depended on the angle I was looking from. If I buy a kit and want to change the bulbs to say...a 4.3K or so I can. Right or wrong?

What brand do you have. From what people are saying it seems to matter.

Matters big time. Crappy jap bulbs dont last or keep color for ****. Kits with external ignitors are also crap. Hella and Phillips make THE best ballasts. Be very careful what you buy!

6-6200 is a good color. If you go to buy new temp bulbs later for the retro kits. You will more than likely have to solder the new buls in. Crimp connections on a high voltage bulb line is a no no. Some guys that sell retro kits might not have the color temp bulb you want. So youll have to find the beam correct, based bulb you need and adapt it to your kit. I was in this situation when I had a bulb burn out. I couldnt find any bulb with the same plug. I took that kit out and sold it. Didnt want to mess with it anymore.
