Default Turtle Wax Black Box detailing kit review

It's been a while since I posted but I was recently at an auto parts store and saw this kit and thought I would test it out. It is specifically designed for black vehicles and I know anyone that drives one knows it's hard to keep clean. I just did a little write up to show the before and after shots.

Before: Pictures are after a wash with Meg. Wash and Wax as you dry to remove all water. You can see you have a good clean car but hairline scatches and the black isn't as vibrant as it should be.

After: I was running out of sunlight so I didn't get a chance to take any upclose shots. The kit says it will basically make your black paint a much deeper and rich black once the process is done. All of the products have a black tint to them when you put them on but won't stain micro fiber towels.

What kind of review is that?! lol To tell you the truth, I don't see a difference between the before and after pictures. Get a close up on the paint to show us the swirls went away or something. Was it easy to apply the product? Is it something worth trying over Meguiar's NXT wax, for example? I've seen this Black Box in local auto parts stores too and I've always wondered how well it works. I know there are far better wax's out there but I love the NXT wax. Easy to apply, easy to wipe off, deep finish....and it lasts.

One ting to think about, this is a wax it will hide imperfections but they will come back.
Nxt2.0 is similar, a good wax with some fillers to hide swirls and light scratches.

If you really want to remove the swirls you need a buffer, and a good compound,polish then wax.

The Denali looks good though, definitely brought out a good gloss to it.

Yeah the swirl marks went away and it did a great job evening out the paint color over the truck. I think it made a pretty noticeable difference to the paint itself. The product is definitely worth the money and I'm sure the imperfections will come back eventually but it has held up so far after mutiple rain storms. I will get some before and after pics on the next wash to show the difference.

here is my review/experience i did a few months back copy/paste:

i have been using this wax/precleaner/detail spray on the car for the
couple weeks. and really only have 3 coats of wax and precleaned it once (the first time).

This stuff is fantastic. both the precleaner and wax are actually black tinted as well as the detail spray. IT has virtually removed (or hidden) all of my swirls and any remnants of water spots (and i didnt even have to use a buffer)

it rained all last night and some on friday. got to see the rain bead up and run right off the car.

Im usually a fan of NXT. (still am and will use on occasion) BUT all i can say is wow.... night and day difference.

best part is.... its only 20 bucks at advance/autozone. you get:

1 bottle precleaner
1 bottle wax
2 bottles of detail spray
2 wax applicator pads

here are the pics as promised, i just boxed her again today. here are before pics after about 3 days ( on and off) of rain and not cleaning the car at all.... ill be doing my tahoe once all the snow is gone and spring has come

here is what the wax looks like.... keep in mind the pre-cleaner looks the same. however i did NOT use the pre-cleaner today. I used ICE to wipe the car down before waxing. i did not actually WASH the car.

Without getting too into it the problem with a product like this is its only a filler. Essentially you're just masking the problem with a ton of colored silicone filing and after a few washes or some rain you're back to square one again.

The proper way to correct a finish is to REMOVE the defects, not hide them. 99.9% of any good detailing job is in the prep work, this is why the afters with this product don't have the depth, clarity, or WOW factor you'd see with a corrected finish where the surface was properly prepped, corrected, and finished.

And I'm not trying to pick on anyones choice of products, if it works for you and you're happy thats what matters most. Not everyone is down to pick up a DA and polish their car, but I just wanted to illustrate that there is a distinct difference between what this can do and what a proper detail does.
