Default Truck is back on the road :)

So, two weeks ago I woke up to a drunk 18 year old slamming into the back of my truck, had to deal with a shitty shop that didn't really want to work on it (told me if it was drivable they would tell me to come back in January) and it was totaled out. Since my dad gave it to me and I was an idiot and got rid of the '67 Pontiac Tempest him and I worked on when I was in High School, I swore I'd never get rid of the truck so I did the buy back option. They had to replace the left axle shaft and the right leaf spring and I had them install 2" drop shackles while they were at it. I managed to find a bed in the same color but it's pretty rough. Has some slight dents in the passenger side and it's more faded plus the top of the bed sides are scratched up from being slide into the rack at the junk yard but it doesn't look as bad as being a completely different color I guess and it will get me by 'till I have enough money to get the whole truck painted. Since the tail pipe was bent I planed on just dumping the exhaust in front of the axle but the muffler shop talked me into a Flowmaster 40 series, not sure if I like it. I like the deep sound but it's a little loud and rough for me I think.

Since the bed was off a Chevy I had them remove all the trim and pin strips off the truck. Paints faded pretty bad front to back and it's kind of funny to look at it in the light and see where the 4x4 stickers were.

I put a tailgate handle bezel in already and a new set of LED taillights but I keep blowing the right rear parking light fuse so that is my project for this weekend.

I was hoping to find a painted bumper so I can have it painted the same color as the truck but I could only find a chrome one last week (and for only $100!). Just my luck, I found a painted one today so I'm going to go pick that up tomorrow.

Thanks, it's amazing how much you can't see from 5 feet away looking through a cell phone camera, lol.

The only thing I can see myself maybe having money for in the near future is a CAI and maybe a tune. Then further down the road some long tube headers and high flow y-pipe/cats. Hopefully several years down the road if the engine gets worn out or if I win big at the casino, I'll do a 6.0/6.2/LSX of some sort with a 6-speed auto. Since it's my daily driver though I'm not rushing the performance stuff and it needs a paint job bad now with the bed not matching up close (you can still see the Chevy emblems and 4x4 stickers thanks to paint fade). Besides paint I also want to do a 2/4 drop and get some rims.

Nice to see that you bought it back from the insurance company and brought her back to life.
