Default Temp and compass in rearview mirror?

How hard would it be to replace my stock mirrow with the GM upgraded mirror that has the temp sensor and compass in it? My Z71 has it but my new truck doesn't and I really like having the temp on the mirror.

I assume I could get the stuff from the dealer or a wrecking yrad but is the data cable to the sensor special or just wire?

Gentex is the company that makes them. You can get them from many aftermarket vendors. You can even get them with or without maplights.

american security co had the cheapest ones I could find.

I wanted to do this same thing when I had my 2000 base truck, but I traded it before that ever came about.

Most of the stuff is either the same weight as what I'm replacing it with or not much more. Besides, I wouldn't mind adding 100lbs of good stuff while I take off 250lbs of bad stuff.

Look on E-bay, allot of people sell em on there at a steal of a price, it may take a few days to find the one you want, and then the bidding war begins.

plug and play. the harness should already be there. check under the overhead console push it thru the headliner and hook it up. that simple.....should take all of maybe 5 minutes. I personally would shop the wrecking yards. you don't want to know what the stealership gets for one
