I was wondering what the tallest tire i could fit on my 2008 chevy 1500.
I have 17 in wheels
I have 265/70..would 265/75 fit?

I dont mind cranking on torsion bars either to make fit

 

295/70-17 maybe 305/70-17 with stock wheels

 

i think it depend on the options on the truck. I dont have any friends that have 1500 with out big big wheels so they are no help. However on 2500's ive seen 285-75-16's clear with no problem, and i seen 265-75-16's rub.

What you need to do it go to Tirerack or some on line tire store. type in the size you want, say 265-70-17 then find the tread design you like. Click SPECIFICATION ( i think) and it will tell you the true size.

My friends that race baja have played with a tone of different tires. Curretnly they are "37" inch toyo's and they are same size and BFG's 35's...

 

If you have an 08 then you don't have torsion bars, you have coil springs. Only thing you can do is add a spacer and it gives you about 2" lift
